Cordes-sur-Ciel is set in one of the most beautiful, idyllic regions of French countryside that you can image and is almost two places in one. There is a typical pretty French village containing a range of shops including boulongerie/patisserie, supermarket, newspaper, café-bars etc. The very pretty fountain with water cascading down steps is a nice feature. There is also a street market on Saturdays. The River Cerou runs through Cordes and Rivers Tarn and Aveyron are also nearby.

Then there is the medieval bastide town of Cordes-sur-ciel which is contained in streets which rise up a hill from the centre of the village and has many shops, restaurants etc. There is a variety of cuisine available here, some of which has earned an international reputation for excellence including the Grand Ecyuer which has been host to the Queen Mother. There are Artist/craft shops and much to see with approximately 50 artists and art craftsmen of a variety of trades.
